Alaska Military Lawyer

Attorney Adam Gittleman is an experienced Alaska Military Lawyer. Attorney Gittleman has lived in Alaska since early 2019, and his office is located near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER).

Alaska is home to many diverse units, including the 11th Airborne Division, U.S. Army Alaska, the 49th Missile Defense Battalion, the 11th Air Force and its subordinate units, and the Alaska National Guard.

Alaska is unique in that the command is geographically diverse, even for units that are traditionally co-located with their higher headquarters. This, combined with environmental challenges and physical distances from friends and family, make Alaska a difficult place for Servicemembers who have been accused of misconduct. In his role as an Alaska Military Lawyer, Attorney Gittleman has lived and worked in Alaska for over five years, and is familiar with not only the units here, but also the unique challenges of living in Alaska.

While Servicemembers do have access to Trial Defense Service/Area Defense Counsel, this office is small and often overworked. While these attorneys are dedicated to their work, they are often inexperienced, overworked, and overwhelmed. Additionally, there are often legal matters Servicemembers face that span across both Trial Defense Services and the Legal Assistance Office. This can lead to frustration for Servicemembers when they have to go to one office to get assistance for their GOMOR/LOR, and another office for help with their separation board/board of inquiry. Attorney Gittleman can help with any issue a Servicemember is facing, and brings years of experience from both sides of the case.

Unfortunately, there are many times that questionable charges are brought against Servicemembers, not only at a court-martial, but also in non-judicial punishment, reprimands, and separation boards/boards of inquiry. This makes it even more important to have an experienced Alaska Military Lawyer who can handle your whole case and ensure continuity in representation.

Attorney Adam Gittleman was on Active Duty for 10 years. After graduating West Point, he served as an Armor Officer and as a JAG. Attorney Gittleman served as a Trial Counsel and as the Senior Trial Counsel for U.S. Army Alaska. In these roles, he served as a prosecutor at countless Court-Martials. He also supervised and trained junior prosecutors, due to his superior performance and proven track record of success.

Attorney Gittleman then transitioned to become a civilian legal assistance attorney, and later became the Chief of Client Services for the 11th Airborne Division.  In these positions, Attorney Gittleman represented Servicemembers under 15-6 investigations and defended Servicemembers accused of misconduct that resulted in letters of concern, GOMORs, article 15s, referred OERs, referred NCOERs, Boards of Inquiry, Separation Boards, QMP actions, and other adverse actions.

Attorney Gittleman, an experienced Alaska Military Lawyer, is physically located in Alaska. This allows easy access to all Alaska Military Bases, and the ability to meet with his clients in person. Many military lawyers hired by Servicemembers are remote and can only conduct phone conversations. In these cases, the Servicemember usually only sees his lawyer for required hearings. This, by its very nature, can limit advocacy.
